According to the secular-left, anti-God forces, who for years have been trying to distort, bury and airbrush away any and all evidence of our rich Christian Heritage—our founding fathers were —simply put——too stupid to articulate what they really meant to say (you know, some real Beavis & Buttheads like Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson).  Thank goodness some Anti-God jackasses came along in 1947 and started translating for us, huh?

If you are detecting a hint of  sarcasm/ skepticism on my part— DO NOT CHANGE THE CHANNEL–it’s because any intellectually-honest analysis proves these assertions to be nothing more than ill-informed, arrogant bullshit (okay, no more bad words, I promise, but that one just fit).  You have to really, really, REALLY want to believe this nonsense.

“NUANCE-FREE ZONE”  No. 1– I’m not at all a fan of ‘the nuance’—which I have come to learn is just another ‘progressive tactic’ to mentally contort and snuggly place ‘one’s own head’ up ‘one’s own ass’ (ass is in the bible—think donkey) in an attempt to prove a point which otherwise has no supporting data.   In other words, ‘nuance’ is the intentional complicating of something basic, simple and true for the sole purpose of promoting a counter agenda.

So let’s get right to it and start with that ‘poorly written, unconstitutional Bill of Rights… in fact, let’s start with the first sentence of the first amendment.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

Okay, let’s break down this massively-complex collection of words:

  • “Congress shall make no law” —–let’s see, that translates to…“Congress shall make no law”…. Okay, that was kind of easy, it must get more difficult from here
  • “respecting an establishment of religion” translates to “that has ANYTHING to do with religion”
  • “or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;” translates to “government is forbidden from placing ANY obstacles in the way of citizens freely exercising this right”

Even voluntary “Silent Prayers” are under attack in todays American School system.

These are not ancient hieroglyphs, or Cro-Magnon cave paintings—nor are they some archaic code to dial the Pegasus Galaxy with the Stargate.  The only way anyone could find this statement to be ambiguous… is if they desperately sought to undermine our constitutional freedoms…..which is precisely what’s going on here.  Nothing more.

The First Amendment is the essence of America…. or it used to be, anyway.

Okay next… in order to buy this secular left argument, we must ALSO disregard any and all pertinent history of the era…more specifically the insanely erratic and dangerous behavior of The Church of England and the accompanying fact that for over one hundred years prior to our Independence in 1776, American was known as THE religious refuge.

It is not by some act of of random happenstance that our Freedom of Religion clause, was placed NOT ONLY in the first amendment—but in the first sentence of the first amendment—even above that of Freedom of Speech.  The Bill of Rights were NOT an accident—nor were they unconstitutional.

Of course, like any good ‘open-minded secular lefty’—they ignore ALL of that and—like Tattoo spotting the plane on Fantasy Island, Da Plane! Da Plane!”—they scream with orgasmic delight, “Thomas Jefferson’s Letter to the Danbury Baptists!”  But actually what they REALLY mean is Thomas Jefferson’s single phrase from the Danbury letter that states, “thus building a wall of separation between Church & State”

The secular lefties LOVE that wall.  It reminds them of a Pink Floyd concert.

But just for fun, we’re going to consider the phrase in proper context.   FIRST, you must understand that Thomas Jefferson’s letter (Jan 1, 1802) was a response to concerns expressed in a previous letter from the Danbury Baptists (Oct 7, 1801)…Now please read carefully as these Danbury cats did not use ebonics.

The Danbury Letter to Jefferson reads in part: “…Our sentiments are uniformly on the side of religious liberty–that religion is at all times and places a matter between God and individuals–that no man ought to suffer in name, person, or effects on account of his religious opinions–that the ‘legitimate’ power of civil government extends no further than to punish the man who works ill to his neighbors;…” 

In Thomas Jefferson’s letter of reply, President Jefferson agrees with the Danbury Baptists: “…Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should “make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, thus building a wall of separation between Church & State….” 

So Jefferson did indeed within his interpretation—describe a wall, but the wall described by Jefferson was to protect Religion from Government…not vice-versa.

The Church of England is to our First Amendment what Karl Marx is to Marxism.

For example the government, could not dictate who or what a man believes… where or how he worships— OR if he even believes or worships at all.

On the other hand… should the people choose to elect Billy Graham as president, it is well within their right to do so.   If our president wants to put  a Christmas Tree on TOP of the White House…it is absolutely within his right.  He is still a citizen, elected by the people and he can still worship God.  He just cannot make laws about religion…

There is a big difference between Freedom OF Religion and Freedom FROM Religion. And some of us have run out of cheeks to turn.
